Kain
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Appearance: Kain's always been tall. Standing in at 5’10’, he's never had too many people mess with him. His emotionless composure shows in his face - eyes narrowed, lips straight. A few freckles dot his semi-round face. He’s got a somewhat stocky build. His chestnut-brown hair comes down one side of his face and is cut short on the other. It waves in the wind, sometimes covering his left eye. His olive-green eyes appear to glisten knowingly, as if they hold a terrible secret. He’s neither skinny nor fat, somewhere in between. He has a way of making people feel small without meaning to. His body is covered with countless scars – ones from hunting accidents, rituals, everything. His skin tone isn’t exactly perfectly white, but isn’t very dark either. Instead, it’s kind of a mix. It’s as if Kain had a natural tan. He wears a nomadic garb - a leather tunic and leggings with a necklace laced with a shard of amber. A leather gauntlet covers his left hand and on his back he carries both a sheath and a bow. He wears leather combat boots crafted by the most skilled shoemaker in his clan. Both his Katana and a knife carved from bone hang loosely from his belt.
Personality: Kain is not the guy for emotions. Rarely does he ever talk, and even rarer is his elusive smile. On most days, he'll grunt out something and most people will understand what he's talking about. Not that he's mentally handicapped or anything. He has a hard time with words, though, which is why he talks so little. He's not unfriendly, but not exactly the nicest person in the world. He's independent, always wanting to do things his own way.
His motives remain unknown, however, as his emotions, locked up in swirling vortex in some lost and forgotten corner of his soul. But in reality, he seeks to live the life that his brother never to to live - to honor his sacrifice. Revenge isn't for Kain. He hasn't always been this way, but since the death of his brother, Wesley, he's rarely spoken. He's shown kindness on a few occasions, and it does reflect that he's still thinking about others. But with no one else to confide to, all of his emotions stay locked inside. It's pretty bad to get on his bad side, though, because he has a lot of anger to unleash.
History: Life as a nomad has always been tough. Always on the move, never resting, it's no wonder that Kain is so independent. Kain grew up with no parents. His tribe was family to him anyway, so he didn't need them. They hunted, gathered, and lived together. Of his nomadic kin, Kain first befriended another hunter named Wesley. The two were all the family each other had. Kain learned to ride a horse when he was six. He was given his first bow at 8 and began to hunt for his tribe when he was nine. He and Wesley were very close, helping each other and saving each other's lives a few times down the road. They fought and argued just as brothers do. On Kain's twelfth birthday, Wesley gave him a katana. It was from a matching set, and Wesley owned the other one. Thus they were bound to together as brothers.
Out of nowhere, everything came crashing down. The Malum, invaders from a long-lost land raided their camp and took most of the food. Many of the nomads, armed with bows and knives, fought back, but in the end, their resistance was futile. Kain and Wesley were among those who fought against the invaders but in the end Kain's brother was killed by a knife through the back. As Kain watched him die, Wesley whispered into his ear, "Go somewhere else. Learn to fight. Find your destiny." With that, Kain's closest friend and only family passed away. A teardrop rolled down Kain's face as he took one last gaze at his brother. The burning ruins of the camp and the dead and dying nomads only embedded Wesley's advice in his mind. That was the end of the line for Kain. Taking his brother's advice, he began to prepare for a new journey, one that would leave the past behind. The future, though was tough.Leaving his home, his only one, for the prospect of an uncertain outcome was tough. The next night, he slipped away with a few medicinal herbs and what little "real" money he had scavenged from the camp. There were a few firearms from the few casualties the aggressors had sustained, but he knew that if he took them, they would only bring on more bad memories. There were more problems however. Coming out of isolation in the plains of Aero, he discovered a great civil war taking place, and of men and machines against the natives. Keeping his identity a secret, he purchased a ticket aboard the Malum vessel the Earthbound. It was headed to Rhynarr.
Arriving in Rhynarr was a totally new experience. It was a land of mystery - a whole to place to explore. Apparently most species of Pokemon had gone extinct around two hundred years ago. Taking his possessions, he jumped ship and swam to shore. In the distance, an oasis of lights seemingly floated in the distance. In instinct, he knew he had to go there. Heading through the forest, he was attacked several times, but keep heading toward the city. In time, he reached the gates of Uri City. Staring at the shining lights and soaring skyscrapers, he broke out into a run, into the distance, leaving the past behind for a new future.
